Come hear one of the finest folk groups on tour today. The Simple Gifts folk duo, Karen Hirshon and Linda Littleton, play a wide variety of ethnic folk music, including everything from lively Irish jigs and down-home American reels to hard-driving Klezmer freilachs , haunting Gypsy melodies, and exotic Balkan dance tunes. Throughout their performance, Simple Gifts puts their own distinctive stamp on traditional tunes, creating some of the finest arrangements in folk music today. This award-winning band performs on an impressive array of instruments, including two violins, mandolin, hammered dulcimer, recorders, and guitar plus some more unusual instruments like the bowed psaltery, baritone fiddle, banjolin, guitjo, and doumbek. They are also offering a musicians’ workshop earlier in the afternoon, where participants will join together to form a band, arrange a piece of music, and then perform it during the public concert.
