Nancy Owens
Administrative Assistant
Nancy Owens, a native of western Pennsylvania, is at the center of the day-to-day ministries of First Presbyterian Church. A most capable and competent administrator, she joined our staff in 1989. Nancy is a graduate of Grove City College, with a B.A. in Business Administration.
She is a certified fellow in church administration and has completed three levels of course work (120 hours) with the Administrative Personnel Association (APA), Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Nancy has served as secretary, president-elect, and president of the Northeast Region of APA.*
Nancy rings in our adult bell choir, fills in as organist at nearby churches, leads a monthly Bible study for women, and is trying to learn the art of arranging an eye-appealing flower garden. She is married to Steve Owens, and they are now "empty-nesters," having celebrated college graduations with their son, T.C., and their daughter, Becky.
* The Mission of APA is to offer opportunities for professional development and personal growth for those called by God to serve as support staff of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). This mission is accomplished by providing continuing education events for certification and occasions for fellowship, worship and spiritual nurture and prayer at both National and Regional meetings as well as seminary-sponsored training events. Classes offered by the APA include Church History, Church Polity, History "Since Reunion", the confessions, theology, as well bulletin and newsletter prep, positive interactions with church members and staff members, spiritual growth, legal matters, conflict management, and many more.
